OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN'S A KAIRDIFF KID!

Saw an excellent "Coming Home" programme on Sky + which was initially televised by BBC Wales on St David's Night as it turns out that hot Aussie songstress, Olivia Newton-John, who is still a bit of a MILF has family roots in South Wales just like Kylie Minogue, her modern day counter-part.

Turns out Olivia's family on her father's side were all Cardiff based. Great grandparents lived down the Docks in Bute Street and also ran the New Market Tavern where I spent many a wasted evening growing up that is now O'Neill's next to Cardiff Central Market near S John's Square.

Her father was also a headmaster in Canton in what is now Chapter Arts Centre and a war hero of sorts as he helped crack the German enigma code in WW2. The family also lived on St Mary Street and married there in properties that still exist with Howells department store where, inside the building, the old church facade is still evident. Best of all, Livvy loved Brains Beer - now there's a girl!
