BAD DAY AT THE OFFICE

Cannot go into detail at present but I work for a highly successful Financial Services provider caught up in the full of the credit crunch and liquidity crisis, one of many in this situation.

The business has done nothing wrong, performed outstandingly and given me 4 of the best working years of my life but become a victim of circumstance in the current climate where funding is either unavailable or unaffordable for providers. Annoyingly, they received several buyout offers last year just before the "crunch" took place in favour of a better deal but the timing could not have been worse.

Some staff have alreayd left for pastures new and I've lost my team in recent months and been unable to recruit replacements but hoped we would get going again, particularly as someone was willing to fund us but it is a complex situation.

It's looking increasingly likely that we will move towards a "service only" arrangement fr exisitng customers and that will only mean job losses and the process appears to have started with some directors leaving, all great friends and colleagues of mine and one has been my best mate and boss for a decade in different companies.

My position is in jeopardy which a real worry (understatement of the year!) but I strangely feel positive becuase, after so long waiting and hoping, it's time for action. Perhaps a new challenge and opportunity is exactly what I need but it's hard to take risks with family to support. Initial responses have been positive as I pushed my c.v. out.

It's going to be a tough few weeks and maybe beyond ... but at least there's the F.A. Cup Final to look forward to! Life goes on. :>)
