DAVID FORDE - clubs battling for his services

Dundee United are believed to have made an official approach to Cardiff City today, just as it was widely believed the goalkeeper, surplus and without any realistic future at Ninian Park, would return to Ireland.

Derry City remain favourites to take him off City's books and are understood to be stepping up their efforts to land him but Dundee United see him as a prelacement in the SPL for the Pole Szamultolski who is quitting the Tangerines at the end of the month and whom, ironically, Dave Jones went to watch in Scotland at New Year with a view to bringing him to Cardiff.

The only certainty, it would seem, is that Forde will be out of Ninian Park in a matter of days.
