Strong rumours are gathering momentum that City are considering the possible return of The Prodigal Son, Robert Earnshaw.
It is my understanding that Cardiff have even made enquiries to Derby County, the club having signed him for a record £3.5M in the summer but the little'un has hardly had a look in under old boss Billy Davies and the new one in Paul Jewell with just 2 starts and 10 sub outings. His only goal this season came for Wales in San Marino.
City, of course, do not have the funds to buy Earnie so are looking at a loan move. It is my belief that Derby are favourable to that but will wait first to see if Earnie is sold during the transfer window, Charlton Athletic apparently amongst clubs showing interest.
A loan for Earnie with The Bluebirds could be a brilliant thing for player and club. Earnie's had a tough time, lost confidence and, for me, has never got any better since leaving Cardiff than when he was here although he did well for Norwich last season. Maybe we're just his natural home.
For Cardiff, the winning run shouldn't mask the fact that City are failing to kill off opponents and take some guilt-edged opportunities. Most recent goals have also come from our midfielders and central defenders so it is an area to address.
I guess we will have to wait until the end of January to see if anything more materialises but as City have only 2 more league games this month, it is worth considering.
