Eddie Johnson tells US about a tough time at Cardiff City

Turn Left for Splott, Eddie !

This article was published prior to the Arsenal game but I've only just come across it.

Johnson seems a likeable guy and desparate to succeed but The Echo's comment a couple of months ago about him looking out of place which is stated within the article (link below) could have been written any time since he's been here really.

Amercian flags have been spotted when Eddie plays for Cardiff? I haven't noticed them.

Has he even scored in any reserve matches? I'm having trouble finding that sort of data online anywhere. I'm wondering this because, as an American Cardiff fan, I would love to see a fellow American succeed at my favorite club.

Cheers,
Tony

Hi Tony

Eddie's had a barren time but has scored in each of Cardiff City's last 2 reserve games over the past fortnight which, we can only pray, is a turning point.

He gets great ovations but it's somewhat ironic as, so far, he's been an enormous failure/disappointment and seen, in general, as a costly failure.

He's here for the entire season at a rumoured £18,000 a week which makes him the likely top earner at the club while being the biggest disappointment/under-performer bearing in mind he rarely plays and, if he does, it's generally for a few minutes as a substitute.

The club are working hard with him and he's a trier who really wants to do well but, in truth, he's never looked the part or threatened to make any sort of impact when on the pitch.

Cardiff are currently believed to be trying to sign another striker or two which may well see him drop even further down the pecking order.

He's not been the answer, never looked like he will become it either but let's hope he can produce in a big end to this season for Cardiff.
