Friendly: WALES 0 POLAND 1

An extra-ordinary goal in a very ordinary game by a Brazilian saw Poland beat Wales in Portugal this evening. As if that combination isn’t bizarre enough, the game was played in an athletics stadium with one stand watched by a reported 150 fans, almost 100 of whom were from The Principality.

Wales acquitted themselves well and were unlucky to lose, Joe Ledley hitting the bar in the first half but any mild interest in the game goes when Wales changed 5 men at half-time.

The Poles won 11 minutes frm time as a man mountain Brazilian, Guerreo, who qualifies for Poland under residency rules, flicked the ball off the outside of his foot finding the perfect gap past Brad Myhill.

Form a Cardiff City viewpoint, Joe Ledley played only 45 minutes and the game ended with Craig Bellamy having an argument with a Welsh fan for not acknowledging the support and had to be pulled away by boss John Toshack.

Happy Days!
