City in injury crisis ahead of Doncaster visit

City Unveil Their New Backroom Team

With games coming thick and fast, this Saturday will represent Cardiff City’s 5th game in 14 days – and they play again next Tuesday as well – it’s no surprise that Dave Jones has injury headaches ahead of playing Donny.

He could almost fill a hospital ward with his players, the roll call reads;

MICHAEL CHOPRA – ongoing heel problem which forced him off early in 2 of City’s last 3 games and to miss the other.

GAVIN RAE – limped off at final whistle with a recurrence of a hip knock … it must have been the shock of his howitzer that smashed the bar late on!

PAUL PARRY – another to come off early in the Bransley victory, in his case for a thigh strain.

City also have at least 5 other players carrying injuries who were out in midweek, these are;

PETER ENCKLEMAN – out for a couple more week after a knee op.

TOM HEATON – also out for a couple more weeks with a leg injury.

JAY BOTHROYD – has missed City’s last 3 matches – and been badly missed too – with a calf injury but may be available for the squad this weekend.

KEVIN McNAUGHTON – a back/hamstring problem has kept him out of City’s last 2 matches and may see him out this weekend as well.

CHRIS BURKE – missed Tuesday’s night success over Barnsley with a hip strain but may be available for Saturday.

City need at least half of these players to be available to face a Doncaster side who are the form team of the division. Bookies may have paid out early on them getting relegated a while ago, they looked that certain, as they couldn’t buy a goal or a result but they’ve transformed.

They’ve on a white hot run with 5 successive wins and 28 points taken from the last 33 available and taking just 18 points from their first 66! The run has propelled them from stranded at the foot of the Championship into the calmer waters of 14th and needing just 5 or 6 more points to be sure of survival. Their only loss in that run was on their lost visit to Wales as they fell 3-1 at Swansea, more of the same on Saturday please boys!
