Darren Dennehy (who's he?) head to Hereford on loan

Young Cardiff City centre-half has joined Div 1 strugglers Hereford United, initially on a 1 month loan.

The 20 yr old Irishman joined City last summer from Everton and seen as a prospect who could challenge for a place in the side but it's not proved to be successful for player or club. The fact Dennehy joined The Bulls after being on trial and having played in a practise game suggests either Hereford had doubts about him or are thinking of making him a permanent signing in the summer.

Saw DD play pre-season at Carmarthen and was instantly impressed. He made Roger Johnson look overweight but had a similar approach and showed raw potential.

However that was as good as it got for him. Dave Jones quickly got frustrated with him in other pre-season games and he hasn't had a look in since. It soon became clear that he was lightweight and not up to the demands City required.

Doubt he cost City much so was a gamble that hasn't come off.

With City having no reserve side, a loan to Hereford can only be good for him but I suspect he'll be at the level where he may have to spend the next few years of his career to stay in the game.
