The Cardiff City Credit Crunch Stadium

The Stadium's Here
Times Are Hard
No Sponsors Around
Is That Bad?

It's been rumoured for a while but news is emerging that Cardiff City have not only failed to find a sponsor for their stadium but, to date, they also don't have one for any stand either.

Of course, sponsorship is a cash injection to the club ... or Langston (!) ... but I don't want to the "Vodafone Stadium" or, as much as I'd love it, "The Clark's Pie Arena"(!) sitting in the Tom Jones Builders Stand. No siree.

It was rumoured the ground would be called The St. David's Stadium but Peter Ridsdale has confirmed it will be known as the imaginatively titled "Cardiff City Stadium"! Bet they had a Board Meeting decision over that. Mind you, it's putting Cardiff Blues Egg Chasers in their rightful place calling it that.

The stand names will also be carried from Ninian Park so we'll still have a Grange End, Canton Stand (or Family Stand for the newbies) and Grandstand but the Bob Bank (now a 400 Bob bank!) will become known as The Ninian Stand.

There will also be other cutbacks with the new stadium, the most apparent one will be no big screen(s) by all accounts.
