The most anticipated fight in years ended in defeat for the gallant and comprehensively out fought Ricky Hatton.
Today's my birthday, I dashed home early from my Company Xmas Party (a superb occasion in a marquee at The Innon The Elm Tree on the coast road near Marshfield) and someohow lasted until I'm going to bed now at 7am. The fight itself starting at 4:30am UK time.
Ricky was outclassed tonight but credit to him for taking on the challenge, giving it all and his sense of hmour in defeat. Not sure he give it his best though. Couldn't believe he never went for Floyd's body but Mayweather was simply fantastic, too good and a class apart and, if truth be told, the stronger and fiiter of the two.
Just like his last fight with De La Hoya, Mayweather pulled away in the second half of the contest and showed why he's an outstanding champion. Disappointing but glad I stayed up to watch together with my father, brother and youngest nephew.
Right, time for sleep esp after all the drinking with a free bar at the party too (hic!).
Good Morning!
