FA CUP ROUND THREE DRAW: CARDIFF GET AN OLD SKOOL AWAYDAY

CARDIFF CITY get a reminder of recent times when they were today drawn away at Port Vale or Chasetown in Round Three of the FA Cup over the weekend of January 5/6. With Stoke also home to Newcastle in the cup and if Port Vale overcome Chasetown (they are currently playing and drawing 1-1), at least one of these clashes cannot take place at 3pm on Saturday. Vale are currently bottom of League One so you would expect Cardiff to overcome them with, hopefully, few difficulties.

Got to admit I quite like a trip to Port Vale. It's not a bad ground, the way end view is good and City comfortable won both their last visits there in 2001 and 2003.

The sides also met in Round Two of the FA Cup just 7 years ago this coming week but it was at Ninian Park in front of 9,650 fans with City comfortably winning 3-0 with goals by Earnie, Gavin Gordon and Leo Fortune-West. The following round, City caused one of the great FA Cup giantkillings when they beat Peter Ridsdale's Leeds.

As for Chasetown, I know feck all about them!
