The latest series of LATER returned to BBC last week and it kicked off with a cracker, the Specials performing live for the 1st time in 25 years ... the music sounded better, the vibrancy, bounciness and fun all still very apparent, songs written at the height of recession and dark times in the early 80's sounding more relevant than ever today and Terry Hall looking as miserable as ever but even more spaced.
I was lucky enough to see them along with Madness and Selecter as The Two Tone Tour rolled into Cardiff Top Rank, forever one of the greatest gigs I've attended and ever will attend.
As a bonus, here's The Specials with Jerry Dammers (not part of the reincarnation) performing Stupid Marriage in Japan in 1980.
