On a day Darren Purse moaned about not getting a new contract, another member of the centre halves club - Gabor Gyepes - signed a 3 year extension.
Gyepes, unknown to City fans when signed for £200,000 last Agust and the subject of unfavourable comment being seen as a poor replacement for the sale of fans favourite Glenn Loovens -has been magnificent to the point that some fans now say, Glenn Who??
He signed a two year contract in August but City moved to tie him to a longer deal as he is clearly an asset to the side and the balance sheet too. It completes a remerkable rehabilitation after he had to pack in at Wolves a couple of years ago and it was suggested he would never play again.
He has not only found his way back to this level but also into the Hungarian national side and looks a class act. Indeed, as well as Darren Purse played last weekend, many still feel Gyepes was missed due to a 1 game suspension.
"It was my dream when I came here to earn a new deal and now this has come true. I am really excited and happy signing the new deal. I had a tough two years and this makes all that worthwhile, my wife and I have settled well in the area and we really love it here." Gabor told the official website, www.cardiffcityfc.co.uk
