Having viewed video evidence and taken in reports, the F.A. today charged Crystal Palace loan player Claude Davis with violent conduct following his off the ball elbow to the throat of Cardiff Ciy's Roger Johnson last weekend which left the previously ever present Bluebirds centre half struggling to breathe, coughing up blood, hospitalised for 2 days and made to miss City's victory over Burnley on Monday.
The Jamaican has until 6pm tomorrow to appeal ahead of a hearing on Friday which will see him banned for 3 games - effectively, the rest of this season - if upheld.
It is believed that Crystal Palace, the club or its leading officials, have failed to make any enquries about Roger's well-being. Regardless of feelings, the City man did nothing wrong and was a victim so it's a shame that's not been considered.
Tonight, Palace manager Neil Warnock expressed his unhappiness about the charge telling South London Press, “The referee told us after the game that he saw it and thought it was inconclusive so I don’t know what has changed his mind. There are just no comparisons between some of the challenges I’ve seen that haven’t been punished. That’s Claude done for the season now.”
