Cardiff City Youth progressed to the quarter-finals of the F.A. Youth Cup and a home clash with either Birmingham City or Crewe Alexandra following a dramatic shoot out win over Tranmere Rovers at Ninian Park tonight.
Two hours of football including extra time failed to produce any goals sending the tie into penalties. Cardiff must have feared the worst when they missed their third penalty but Tranmere missed their fourth sending the sides to the final kicks at 3-3 but, incredibly, both missed including Tranmere knowing that a score would have seen them through.
After that, both sides scored until in the 7th round of kicks, with the game now at sudden death, Cardiff converted theirs to nudge 5-4 in front but Wirral lads missed again.
Well done to all involved.
