SCOTLAND and WALES talk up joint EURO'2016 bid

The Scottish Football Association today admitted talks have been underway with their Welsh counterparts to jointly host the Euro'2016 Finals.

It is ambitious - and it mya be the only way Wales qualify for a finals! - but there is likely stiff competition from the likes of France, Spain, Turkey and a joint Nordic Sweden/Noway bid although final entrants for the race have until February to officially confirm.

UEFA president Michel Platini is keen on joint bids and spreading the game beyond key nations but it will be tough as the infrastructre is not in place. With the tournament expanding to 24 teams, requirements are for 8 x 30,000 seater stadia.

Wales have only 1 in Millennium Stadium while Cardiff City's new ground could make the magic number being 27,500 at present with an upgrade but surely Wales would need more than 2 grounds in the same city and Swansea (20,000) and Wrexham (15,000) fall way short at present.

However it will be interesting to see how this develops.
