Writing his weekly Everton column in the Liverpool Echo, ex-Toffes player and Welsh premy haired international Barry Horne expresses his doubts that the Merseysiders will make a transfer window move for Cardiff City's Joe Ledley.
Hi rationale is that Everton have 4 strikers unfit or struggling at the club while Eveton are blessed with a strong and quality midfield so any funds and moves in teh transfer window will have to be for a forward.
Horne wrotes:
Given Yakubu and James Vaughan are out injured long term, with Victor Anichebe having also been sidelined and Louis Saha’s fitness unreliable, it is crystal clear the manager’s priority in the transfer window is to sign another striker if his good work is to continue.
Which is bad news for Cardiff City’s Wales international Joe Ledley.
I have long been an admirer of Joe. He has a great work ethic and can score goals. For me, he would be a great signing for the Blues but the club is already blessed with several quality attacking midfielders.
Everton boss David Moyes watched last week's Cardiff City game at Burnley. It begs the question that if he was watching City men, was it a personal check on Joe or could he have been thinking of Michael Chopra? ( ... or is he stupid an wants to look at Eddie Johnson!)
