Watford fined and censured for Ninian Park protests

Watford have been fined £7,500 and severely censured by the F.A. for failing to control their players at Ninian Park. Got to admit my surprise at this and not even knowing they had been charged, it seems very harsh.

The flashpoint was Cardiff being awarded a penalty with the last kick of the game after a Watford player was adjudged to have handled the ball. There was confusion with the linesman apparently not prepared to award it and the ref did, the ref standing by his decision after consultation and Ross McCormack socred to give Cardiff City a 2-1 winner.

The FA statement read: “Watford admitted the charge of failing to ensure its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and the result was confirmed at a personal hearing.”

Having seen tv replays, I thought the decision to give the penalty was correct. I'm not so sure at all the decision to censure and fine the club is right at all however. Hard Luck Hornets.
