However the tests were negative with Jones relieved to discover he is suffering with a heavy flu strain, one that is still severe enough to keep him away from the club, cancel book signings and possibly see him miss this weekend's friendly with Valencia.
In an effort to dismiss rumours that DJ really does have swine flu, the club have now issued a picture of Jones recovering at home today (see below) - Get well soon Dave!
