With no City game at the weekend, other action saw The Bluebirds drop 2 places to 19th
The weekend's action saw Cardiff City drop two places to 19th, mere goal difference stopping it being 21st and only 1 point separating them and the bottom three. There is now no hiding place for them and beleaguered boss Dave Jones. Any talk in the camp of play-off and promotion challenges - as Captain Darren Purse did on Soccer AM last weekend - must be banished for now at least as the gravity of City's situation has to be realised
Cardiff's break from the leaague programme with the welcome distraction of that Carling Cup tie at Anfield now a distant memory, they simply have to get results in this week's 2 games before an international break or face the consequences.
It's Charlton away this Saturday but tomorrow has somehow become an early season 6 pointers as City face Neil Warnock's Crystal Palace. The Eagles currently lie 23rd, have failed to win so far under Warnock, their only win since a 4-1 thumping of Southampton on opening day being victory over Sheffield United on September 22nd.
Not that City have bragging rights. That solitary home win over Burnley last month is our only home league victory since March and Dave Jones' men have collected just 8 points from the last 27 available. Jones appears to have the luxury, Riccy Scimeca apart, of a full squad to select from. They now have to perform and get results - simple as that.
It promises to be a tense, possibly make or break night, at Ninian Park tomorrow kick-off 7:45pm.
