TRANSFER DEADLINE – NOBODY ARRIVES BUT NOBODY LEAVES EITHER

Cardiff City fans watched today’s transfer window with no excitement whatsoever and only fear. Would the key players be sold for cash or just shipped out to offload the wage bill reputed to be a crippling £1M per month?

We already knew nobody was coming so were fearing the worst especially when Ipswich manager Roy Keane spoke about the possibility of landing Michael Chopra on Saturday night while Ross McCormack delivered his now customary come and get me plea. In August, it was Hull. This time, it was to Celtic.

City fans were therefore relieved when those clubs signed other strikers and, as the hours ticked by on the slowest moving deadline day in recent memory, the movement turned out to be as minimal as my hips at a disco night.

A clear sign how financial problems have hit the game.

However it gives Cardiff the chance to continue a tilt at the play-offs while praying we don’t get hit by injuries with the paper-thin squad that will be pushed to its limits. After the past few days, it’s all we can hope for.
