Cardiff City finally unveil a shirt sponsor ... and it's a load of balls!

CARDIFF CITY have revealed little known - change that to unknown - Far East online betting company 777ball.com



Their website is entirely written in Chinese ... or Japanese (excuse my ignorance) so will have no affinity with Cardiff City fans but the club are very grateful and the one season deal is worth a reported record deal of £250,000. Personally, my guess is that it is nowhere near that figure as I know the club were touting a much lower deal very recently ... or it may be that will be the figure if the club win promotion etc.


This is verified by a club statement reading, "“This sponsorship deal, which includes a bonus structure, far outweighs the deals the club has enjoyed over recent seasons.”

Peter Risdale has been chasing a number of investment opportunities in that part of the world but this is not linked to his ongoing talks with a Malaysian group. The club are also hinting a further deal involving stadium naming rights with a Far East group are progressing well too.


The new slimline Ridders commented, "We have other contacts as well and are using Malaysia as a stepping stone for the Far East. Established contacts in a particular province in China which has 70 million people are desperate to be associated with a football club in the UK.
We also have contacts in Hong Kong and Japan. There are an awful lot of people in the Far East watching English League football day and night. They want to be associated with a football club they think will be in the Premier League in the not too distant future.”


The club are happy with the deal but it remains to be seen how many City fans take up the offer to have their logo added free to new City shirts already bought.

I think I'll celebrate with a Chinese tonight!!
