Ridsdale Explains His Business "Collapse"

Put Your Hands In The Air
Is Your Consultancy Business Has Gone

Like an M.P. trying to explain his Expenses Claim was ok and in the rules, Peter Ridsdale has today offered his reasons why the closure of his consultancy business WH Sports is not a concern.

“WH Sports Group limited was a vehicle for consultancy fees from Cardiff City Football Club prior to me going on the club’s payroll in October 2007,” said The Riddler adding, "The only reason that the company existed is that I would not work for Sam Hammam when he was at the club and I was paid consultation fees.".

(Strange that, it has been widely reported that company was set up within a couple of weeks of his Leeds United departure and long before he ever got involved with Cardiff City but I digress)

Publicity Pete - not happy with the "misleading" publicity he got this time - continued, "But when Sam left Ninian Park I said I would prefer to be on the payroll and the fees stopped. This was a way to ensure total transparency at the football club. As a consequence all fee income ceased and therefore WH Sports Group had no other income and no reason or means to continue to trade.”

“The only material creditor was HMRC (Inland Revenue). The company was closed down and all creditors will be paid. Through my professional advisers the amount liable to HMRC is being discussed and agreed and will be discharged by me personally. The innuendo of a failed business is not only misleading but bears no relation to the circumstances surrounding either the company’s original reason for existing or its reasons for being liquidated. It is not a failed consultancy, it was closed because Sam had left Cardiff City.”

So there you have it ... for now.
