Cardiff now 7th after their non-playing Saturday

With City preparing for the visit of Ipswich to South Wales tomorrow - the game moved back a day so it didn't clash with Wales egg chasers getting booed and outclassed at home to the Aussies, bless'em - fans were left to wonder how destructive Saturday results would be. The answer is, they weren't bad at all.

On the downside, Cardiff now find themelves outside the play-off spots as QPR and Nottingham Forest overtook Cardiff in the table while Newcastle and West Brom in the automatic spots are currently threatening to run away with those places.

However it could have been much worse. A draw tomorrow will return City to 5th (and back above Swansea albeit on goal difference, a win will bring up 30 points and see Cardiff in 4th spot).

Leaders Newcastle made mince meat of The Swans beating them 3-0 with all the goals coming in the opening 25 minutes before they declared. West Brom in 2nd went goal crazy winning 4-0 at Sheffield Wednesday (Current on loan Bluebird Warren Feeney was a non-playing sub for The Owls while skipper and former City man Darren Purse is out of their squad). Leicester who started and finished the day in third will have been disappointed to have been held 1-1 at Scunthrope, the home equaklising in added time.

Although QPR leap-frogged Cardiff, they won't have been plased to have been held 2-2 at home by Coventry but Nottingham Forest, now 4th, pummelled Doncaster 4-1 at home.

Now i'M NOT INTO EGG CHASING BUT THIS RUGBY ACTION MUST BE the HIGHLIGHT OF THE SPORTING WEEK.

Rugby fan Stuart Tinner is randomly pulled out of the crowd and wins £250,000 at the Saracens vs Springboks rugby match managing to hit the corssbar with a halway line kick from the side of the pitch too ... and in his socks as he removed his shoes! Then he's mobbed by cheerleaders, what a lucky ******* he is!

Well I never, these rugby fans who continually tell us what a friendly sport they follow while booing any kickers and that drinking and problems is just high spirits while they never have trouble and violence (I précised!) must be coming up with a new excuse after it has been reported Cardiff and Swansea egg chasing supporters got involved in fights in Coventry before games played there yesterday.

Top of the excuses will inevitably be it was Cardiff and Swansea football fans who went there because their clubs weren’t playing, I can see it already!

Wales Rugby - A Nation Mourns? No chance!

The hype and furore that surrounds Welsh rugby annd the media blitz of it never ceases to amaze me.


It's a sport only played to a significant level in a handful of countries around the world but the image the world holds is that we all love it.


Not here!


Wales lost to Ireland today missing a last kick that would have given them victory and a Triple Crown. Instead, Ireland win only their second ever Grand Slam and good luck to them.


Now the 6 Nations are over, the 'plastic' Welsh egg chasing fans will disappear until Wales next play. Unlike football fans who support their club, the overwhelming majority of rugby followers don't ever go near a club game. Indeed, Cardiff City and Swansea City attendances drawf the crowds of all 5 regions in Wales playing club rugby. Yte, come international day, the red tops are out, the pubs are packed, the newspapers and radio and tv give never ending coverage. It's not so much a sport in Wales as a social event.


It divides many football fans, some despise the game due while many who do watch it don't let it be know.

Personally, what Wales do at rugby is irrelevant to me and does nothing for me, it genuinely washes over me. I did mind the odd game but have become more disinterested by it in recent years.

Watched bits of today's game - tense at times and a great contest yet I found it a huge bore. It's reckoned that the average 80 minute rugby game has only 25 mintes play and maybe that's where I have a problem with it. Stop, start, stop, start and half the time the game is in play, the general view is a doxen blokes on the floor scrambling for the ball.


All the hype and fervour and Wales were 4th - you got to laugh at that!
