CARDIFF CITY remain in the play-offs but it's beginning to feel like a case of for how much longer after another unacceptable performance, self-inflicted damage and a terrible result.
City returned to Deepdale and Preston North End, the scene of a 6-0 thumping that started the freefall out of the play-offs. This time it was 3-0 but Preston scored their final two goals after playing most of the second half with ten men! City were uniformly poor from back to front as their slump now extends to 4 points out of 15.
As is inevitable, key players were absent and Dave Jones had to fit square pegs into round holes. David Marshall, still injured but linking with the Scotland squad after the game (go figure that!), was replaced again by Enckleman (maybe worth it for his comedy moment - how many more Enks?), Whitts had to play in central midfield and Mark Kennedy (who has a strong case for being called our worst defender recently but who slagged off the entrie defence after last week's capitulation with Barnsley) was dropped to give the just as bad Paul Quinn a game.
Amonsgt the injured remain Wildig, McPhail, Ledley, Etuhu, Comminges and possibly others I've missed.
