The official Cardiff City website have this afternoon disclosed the worst possible outcomes following scans of Jay Bothroyd and Ross McCormack's hamstring injuries which forced them out of the encounter against Wolves last weekend.
It has been revealed that McCormack, who hoped only to miss ths weekend's encounter at QPR, has a Grade 1 tear (whatever that is) and will instead be asbsent for 3 to 4 weeks. Bothryd, whose injury on the day, looked more serious has been confirmed as a Grade 2 tear which means a 6 to 8 weeks absence.
Ross looks set to miss 4 Championship clashes but should return by the end of month live tv clash at Swansea, if not earlier. Jay, though, may be absent for as many as 9 fixtures and only be available again at Xmas.
Both are hammer blows to City who are currently working hard on bringing in a replacement or two but, as usual, seem to be baulking at the possible costs of doing it. Going without a new face for any length of time - when our only current options are Paul Parry, Eddie Johnson and Jon Brown - could seriously harm City's current Championship standing and ruin so much of the good work to date. Let's hope they sort something out ... and fast.
